Thanks to all who replied...problem fixed. It seems there are about 3, maybe 4 different VW OP switches. I found a write up on line by Ron Salmon giving a bit of insight, then went out and swapped out a white one for the brown one that was in my old motor and all is good. If I am not mistaken there is also a switch that will give a 'linear' signal in addition to the go/no go one that powers the Idiot Light....so if you get the one with two spades you can simply add the instrument with actual pressure readings using just one switch. "That's Me" for later on... So I am now draining out my "wash the inside of the motor" oil and getting ready to test her out....

So far, this has been a pretty easy swap...if I do it again, it will be way simple, since I made some 'sequencing mistakes' like putting my cross engine brace on before I did the exhaust, stuff like that...It would be really simple with a lift and a real shop.. Don Hanson
