Be sure you don't overtorque. I don't have one, but if there was a case for owning a 1/4 drive torque wrench, it would be these nuts. They will pop the studs right off and then you have to pull the dash to replace the stud. There is a way around it, but I won't take up the bandwidth here.

I have a problem of a cat that likes to use the wiper arms as a springboard to get to the luggage rack on my westy. If I don't remember to park my wiper arms vertically, retightnening is a once-a-day procedure around here.

I've never had a problem with the splines not grabbing into the soft metal, though.
