You don't even have to search the archives to find my write up. Like everything these days, just go to google.com and FGI Just search for "Vanagon Ball Joints", article should appear near the top of the search results. While the write up is for 80-84 the procedure for later Vanagons is very similar. If you cannot find the appropriate loaner tools, any decent machine shop can press them out/in once you bring them the knuckle...but you won't have the satisfaction of conquering the ball joints yourself.
