While in College in the late 60's a friend loaned us one of the very
first (?) microwaves out on the market to play with.  It did not have
a glass door, but a perforated metal screen door!  Needless to say
some of my idiot roommates, tried to microwave a raw egg in it, & I
can personally verify that said egg did in fact explode & send the egg
material thru the perforations & over the entire kitchen in its blast
path.
