I can shift again without grinds, lockouts, and asphyxiation from holding my breath until I hit the next gear. I ended up adjusting the connection between the two shafts. I went too far at first but then eased it back one click of the splines at a time until Voila! Thanks Scott for that guidance. I also received help in the Samba archives. Another good resource.
