Subject: airflow management in hot weather driving
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

When it's hot out, I often struggle with various ways to get the most air flowing through my 86 westy to keep me cool while driving. There seems to be strong low pressure outside the front doors, so opening the vent or rollup windows seems to want to suck air out. The side slider windows in the back are pretty small and I'm not sure if air wants to come in those or not due to relative pressures in that area of the van. I have driven with the skylight open and quite a bit of air seems to come in there when the front windows are open, despite its rear facing orientation.

The back area of the van seems to get very little airflow and gets hotter and hotter, especially on a sunny day. I've thought about getting the late model rear side windows with the vents to upgrade my 86 which has the front door vents. Do those rear window vents make a big difference? What are your hot weather driving tips?

Edward
