Bryan,
You might want to consider adding a brusk-pack to your emergency road
kit. They cost about $15, and most of the time that is the cause of
alternator problems. Not always the case, but most of the time. And it
sure beats the heck out of paying for a rebuilt alternator unit if not
necessary. Takes about 15 minutes to replace a brush pack.
