As a clarification, there are the following moving parts in a Vanagon seat:

1. The tracks 2. The mechanism that releases and locks fore and aft movement on the tracks 3. The backrest pivot 4. The mechanism that releases and locks the backrest pivot 5. The seat swivel (if installed) 6. The mechanism that releases and locks the backrest pivot 7. The pivots for the armrests 8. The rods on which the headrest sits and adjusts

I suspect that grease on some these parts would not be advised.
