Subject: Heater valve
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
I purchased a Meyle heater valve that was listed as oem. The valve was labeled as made in China on the box (I know it's outsourcing ). Where it's made is not my issue though. I testes the valve movement and it's pretty stiff when trying to push the valve. Pulling the valve lever is smooth but the pushing of the lever has me worried that it will bend the wire from the control lever. Are all the new valves this way? It also seems that when the valve is supposed to be in the fully closed position against the plastic stop it is just past the closed position and it will let coolant trickle through. If you have the lever a bit before the stop it is closed off completely and no coolant will get through. Is this the way all new valves are? Is there better quality available? I plan on adding a ball valve to shut off the heater in the summer but would like a valve that won't bend my cable. If you have a new valve in hand could you check the movement out for me. I could have a defective valve or it's just the way the new ones are. Hoping it's defective or there is a better quality available. Also wondering if I should return the meyle blower and get the more expensive one that is being sold. Any horror stories with the Meyle blower fans out there? It appears to look ok. With the dash removal being a time consuming process I want to deal with it once.
Thanks foe your time and any info you can pass my way. All I ask is please don't turn this into a thread bashing products made in China. Quality control can be good or bad no matter where it's made. I have a new mustang body that was made in China and the quality on it's manufacturing is impeccable.
Bill
