If I remember correctly, the mechanisim is identical on both wheels, but the rotation works opposite. So look carefully at the threads on the adjusting wheel before you put the wheels back on and keep in mind which way each one turns do do whatever.

I always screw that up and end up winding and cursing, trying to get more brake and actually winding it out, or visa/versa.. I recall my 1951 Flat head V-8 Ford Woodie surf wagon back in my high school days had a better rear brake set up than my vanagon's seems to be....
