Subject: One-man poptop canvas replacement
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed; delsp=yes

I've been working on putting in new canvas all weekend.

The directions and conventional wisdom say that you take the poptop off (with help), install the top of the canvas and the tacking strip, then put the poptop back on and screw down the bottom.

I understand why that's easier, if you have the help. I've been doing it with the poptop on. All that's required is lots and lots of patience. Infinite patience. I've been at it off an on since Friday. There's an airshow this weekend; every so often I pop my head through the front window as a couple of Blue Angels skim over the rooftops.

I've never had a bus with an upstairs before. It's nice. People walking past in the parking lot spot me (especially if I have a leg sticking out under the canvas) and some of them smile.

It helps to have a really well made canvas. This one is great. I wish I knew who made it, because I would recommend it (it came with the bus when I bought it). It's really canvas, open weave, unbleached.

Happy camper, I am.

Mark
