Subject: 4th vanagon camper hookup - summer cooling
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I'm thinking of adding a 4th vanagon camper hookup to the side of the vanagon - a port that allows it to be propped open fully and is basically a big hole and a fan mounted in it with a flex tube inside so I can extract heat from the camper refrigerator when it runs on propane or 110 V. Another mod I've already made is a twin computer fan hookup that plugs in to a outlet next to the license plate - you open the license plate and instal the fans - it sucks hot air out of the engine compartment to keep the van cool when camping in summer (yeah, I know it's fall but think people might find this useful). I attach a hot wire to the alternator output (yeah, I know it's drawing off the starter battery but current consumption is small) and running for an hour really helps keep the interior of the vanagon cool. It's stupidly simple - two 12V computer fans mounted in a wooden board. A simple computer wire hookup that just hangs there when not needed and plugs in to the fan assy when the engine needs to be cooled down so you don't roast in the camper.
