By "doesn't slide nice" I assume you mean it doesn't slide easily.  It should.  If not, perhaps cleaning and lubricating the track and release mechanism would help.  Mine was really tight and difficult to move when I got it, but a little WD40, a brush and rag, and then a tiny touch of grease took care of that.  It holds tightly when it should, and slides easily when prompted to do so.
