If I remember correctly, there's a cotter pin type thing in there somewhere. I didn't do the work on mine so I'm not fully clear on it but I did watch! LOL and it seems like I remember something like that. A bugger to get off, for sure.

Not sure that's all that helpful but maybe . . . ? Mine's an 85 too, btw.
