Oddly though I hooked up the propane and there's no leaks so far, now > that's > never happened before. Started the stove. Works fine but the knobs turn > backwards? Weird.

You mean they worked backwards from how a normal knob would work, or backwards compared to a Westie stove? Mine, you turn it on and it is in the "High Flame" mode. Turn it further on and the flame goes down to "really low"..like still on but you can't even hardly see the flame.... ..Now that seems backwards to me, and I have some burnt stuff to prove it...closing the stove top with the burner just barely burning . My Dometic works well, too. That seems backwards from the Norm...
