I've got JL Audio's in the front and Polks in the rear. The JL's are much
better sounding for not much more money.

Can't help you with removal on the '87. On my '89 there were screws in the
front of the speakers. Definitely run new wire. I think the '87's still had
a common ground to the rear speakers.
