well.....I think the post said a co-owner of the dealership only one month
prior claimed all was ok and they'd stay in biz . It does not seem that was
the whole real complete truth in that case.
Can't imagine they'd go from OK to closing in one month without knowing
they'd likely been in deep doo-doo for a long time.
So likely they were wanting to make people think they'd be around for a
long time..
becuase ...if people knew they'd be going out of business....they'd likely
not be buying from them, so they had to try to cover their own butt there by
probably lying. Not cool. It's deception. People don't like being
decieved.
but any open ended thing like that is always a risk ...
maintance for the life of the car ? ......some cars go 350,000 miles.....and
some aren't driven much ..
someone is going to get free service from that one dealer for say 30 or 40
years if that's how long they keep the car ? ..
not likely ....
'something' will happen before 'forever' arrives ...
dealer goes out of biz, no one is driving fossile fuel cars anymore , etc.
etc. etc.
just like when I see a piece of land is protected from developement
'forever' .......sure.
Things change over time, they just do.

I don't know how you can use the words "thieves" and "duped".
Government Motors shut down the dealership, and furthermore, the dealer did
say that there was money available to provide at least some reimbursement.
The consumers will lose some amount of money, but you can hardly
characterize the dealership as "thieves" under these circumstances per the
info provided in this article.
I'm no fan of car dealerships, but to me, there appears to be no ill will
here on the part of the dealer.

too bad for all the people who got the shaft here. I hope they can recover
from the dealership's owners. that depends on how deeply the owners had
protected themselves by corporate means. A joint lawsuit against the owners
personally, the dealership (its corporate liabilities still exist until a
bankruptcy settlement releases it from some of them), and GM. Meanwhile,
they need to try the case in the media to the maximum possible degree,
putting as much pressure as possible on the thieves. Whatever documentation
the duped buyers have is of course of major importance.
Now, whoever said that prepaid service was good for anyone except the seller
of the service? It just doesn't work out, on average, to handle maintenance
and repairs that way. Certainly, on average, one spends more in the long
run.
