I know I'm getting really particular about brand names when I have to purchase parts these days.  All the vendors now have the cheap (china made) stuff, in addition to the German-made stuff.  I went through this procedure like you did with an ignition switch.  I ordered from a popular online vendor here, and it acted up from day one. The second time around, I ordered the more expensive one, and still got the cheap one shipped, so ended up installing that. grumble, grumble. I did finally get the vendor to sent the correct one, so now have an extra.  Having a gear puller would be handy, but I used 2 large screwdrivers to pry up the center piece.  A tiny bit of silicone helps to put it back together. Yes, one must pay close attention to the tolerances as well if you don't want scraping. Marking the steering wheel helps too! I got mine on a little off, and had to redo it. Don't most vehicles have a notch and tab arrangment?
