RE: Route to BBTB I've done the trip three times now. First time down I-5 to 38, over to the coast and down Hwy 1/101 to about Atascdero then across 58 (with a stop in the Carrizo Plain) to 40 to 95 and down to Lake Havasu. The last two years I've gone down I-5 to Shasta then 89 to 44 Susanville then 395 south from there. Last year cut over at Lone Pine to Death Valley and out of there to 95 and south. The last two years 395 was clear of snow although snow on the side of the roads. And cold at night along 395. I've tended to stay at commercial RV parks on the way down. Many of the Forest Service campgrounds are closed that time of year along that route. I avoid I-5 whenever or wherever possible, just plain boring. |
