I have the one on the left and always had sealing problems between the top of the carb and bottom of the Unisyn.

Listening with a stethoscope is much more accurate than listening with a tube.

I used the type on the right in the pictures .. on a Porsche 914-6 about a year ago.

Listening with a tube gets you close .. but this is a true accurate visual display of air flow at idle.
