Bryan, Knowing NOTHING about electrical stuff, and little enuf about much of anything else, I'll add my 2 cents here: it sounds like the bearing on the fan "froze", overloading the electrical wires running to the fan motor. I think I might run new wires from the switch to the fuse block as "insurance" so you don't have to do anything with it for another 25 years. bob
