John,

I have eliminated this connection completely by running the hose under the firewall directly to the fuel line from the pump. I split a slightly larger piece of hose and slipped it over the fuel hose, thus providing a chafing surface that protects the fuel line itself. I tied this off with a couple of safety ties so the split hose wouldn't slide, and then tied the whole assembly off with a clamp and a couple of ties so that the hose would not move.

If you had fuel line that ran from the pump all the way back to the fuel "T" over the engine, it would be a better deal having no breaks anywhere. But such is not the case on my vans.

John
