Just curious. I had an Ansa exhaust resonator tip kicking around from a previous vehicle. It's got a perforated inner core, sort of like those old VW muffler tips off a bug, or what you might find on a motorcycle (other than a Harley, they don't have mufflers, I don't think) grin! Putting this onto the end of my exhaust system made it louder. Adding an additional muffler makes more sound? I have an inline four in my van with a 21/8" ID custom exhaust that goes though a big straight through (almost) SS Magnaflow oval muffler. I stuck this resonator on there, some further experimenting with power and fuel economy as I am refining my motor transplant...testing. Firing it up, it now has a real 'snappy' tone, like a Kiddy Honda or a Mexican bus...Doesn't make sense to me. Anybody want to opine why adding a second 'muffler' makes it louder? Friday topic..It is a Vanagon with a VW motor, though. Don Hanson |
