I have a 1987 with a Tiico conversion, but am using the original style Vanagon power steering pump. I have just replaced the power steering pump and the output/pressure hose from the pump. I have now replaced the two washers/seals on the banjo fitting twice and the fluid continues to leak at the seals. These are new seals purchased from Van Cafe; they are the right seals. There are two sizes in the set; the larger fit on the fitting for the suction hose, the smaller fit the pressure hose banjo fitting. I think that is right. I have torqued the fitting bolt to the 29 ft-lb. specified in my Bentley. I examined the surfaces on the banjo, the bolt, and the pump where the seals seat and they look good. And it continues to leak. Not a lot, but I wouldn't dare a trip of 50 miles without a quart of fluid in the Van just in case. I am using Amsoil ATF for the fluid if that makes a difference. Any ideas? rob |
