Jeff, two representatives from VW were here at my shop last month.  I
gave them my list at that time.  They are actually supposed to be having
a meeting this week about the parts that we suggested.  If you want I
can email you my list that I gave to them.  I tried to think of anything
that isn't already being made as a good quality part in the
aftermarket.  One of the guys seemed amused at me suggesting that they
reproduce the 82 Diesel Vanagon Coolant expansion tank.  Then he sends
me a picture of his own personal Vanagon and guess what it is?  82
