IIRC, you push the wiper stalk forward to activate the rear. It works independent of the fronts.

You did not specify the year and engine type. Since you mentioned 'antifreeze', I'm going to assume you do not have an air-cooled Vanagon. There is no engine tin in the traditional sense. There should be one under each set of pushrods tubes, IIRC.

Of the 30+ Vanagons I've owned and hundreds that I've seen, none has ever come from the factory with power antennas. They have retractable antennas but you just pull them up by hand. VW did install windshields with built-in antennas but that you have one of those. If you want to add a power antenna, I suspect you will need to run power to the fuse box under the dash on the driver's side.
