Hi Scott, Oops, mixed years and models. Okay, I have a 1982 Vanagon with a 1982 shift rod front to back. The bushings in the joint between front and middle rod are crapped out, the bushing over the gas tank is missing, and the guide pin is bent. So what I want to do eventually is to replace the 1982 transmission with a latter transmission and the complete shift rod with the later shift rod. But for now I'd like to match up the front of the later shift rod with the back third of the early rod. If I can. That way I eliminate the bad joint bushings and get the heady duty bushing over the gas tank. Mark
