When I bought a new battery at WalMart a few months ago, they told me that there is no more pro-rated replacement after three years. The new policy is full replacement for three years, then nothing. This was in SoCal, but I assume (possibly incorrectly) that there is a single warranty program for the USA. The batteries have a bar code sticker, and that is what they use to validate the warranty in the absence of a receipt.
