I got one of the Italian made aftermarket units for my passenger side. It works fine, a bit slower than the stock.  The only downside is that the door speaker had to come out, and the window stays up about an inch. As I recall it cost about $130 for the whole unit....motor and regulator. Anthony'89 Syncro GL (Hidalgo)

Howdy volks-

As some of you know (apologies for the repeated posts over the past couple of months) I've been searching for some parts to complete the current round of necessary repairs on Blackbeard. Unfortunately my mechanic, while agreeing to let me find parts on my own, has now grown more than impatient with the fact that it's taking as long as it has.

So now, after being completely flaked on by a couple of previously-held "reliable" vendors and people with parts that turned out to be the wrong thing (no offense intended), I'm STILL in need of one crucial piece that is needed before the current round of repairs can be completed.

As such, I will now BEG for SOMEONE to come forward with something that I can use. . .

It's actually a seemingly simple request. The driver's side power window regulator on my '90 GL is kaput. Completely fried. The motor is fine, but I know that more often than not you'll have better long-term results getting the entire system (used) as opposed to just a used regulator.

That being said, I now find myself in DESPERATE need of the part to remedy the problem. I've spoken to my mechanic. He's told me that he can make a "new" regulator work just fine, but can't guarantee how long it will function, and recommends the entire mechanism (regulator + motor). Given that VW no longer makes these parts, and also given that the only aftermarket part (available from GoWesty) only rolls the window down 2/3 of the way, my only option is to go used.

Anyone got anything to help? Given the nature of the part, I'd rather not do a rebuild (which has also been offered).

If you've got a part that will fit the bill, PLEASE PMail me and let's work it out.

I want to get my Vanagon home!!!

Apologies for the whiney email, but I'm completely out of options here. . . .

Drew, Las Vegas '90 GL "Blackbeard"
