Michael, et al.,

The delete button works fine if you're just reading posts. The question is, after two or cranky replies, whether you want to ask a question. In that case the delete button doesn't help at all.

And if most people are replying off-list because they don't want to be the target of sarcastic comments, then those replies -- the ones that are helpful -- aren't making it into the archives. In time, the archives will be nothing but "funny" remarks.
