Talking about netiquette is almost as bad as being snarky and
ingroupish. But:

You can't defend against an accusation of in-groupishness by saying
"you've got to get to know us ..."

If the Vanagon list wants to have a certain sort of pecking order,
where certain people get to be sarcastic and the rest just have to get
used to it, that's fine. But I've always been an outsider, so I'll
probably check out. And a lot of other people will too (and have).
