I agree Dave but that seems to be the standard. I think that it comes from the rating of smaller camera and phone batteries, what people want to see is the capacity of the battery expressed in the same terms as the smaller batteries being replaced or supplemented. So just simple marketing. I just went through this purchasing a battery for a totally non camping related application, battery was rated at 9,300 MAH when it would make more sense to call it a 9.3 amp hour battery.
