  Michael,  I never understood that logic either!

I just bought three of the Group 41 batts from Walmart. Have had good
service from them in the past. Now with three vans instead of one, it
seems I'm going to have lots of batteries on hand, even if I have to do
the swappy-swappy thing to keep at least one van running. The Walmart
battery in my daily driver was on it's last legs, and the two new(to me)
vans had dead batteries from sitting for ten years - so, the battery
change for all three hit at once. In my experience - with the history of
prior good service - I just opted for three new ones just like in my
daily driver.

I will add this however. I have bought a Walmart battery, only to have
it fail completely by the time I got  home with it. Internal failure of
some sort. Battery would not charge. Evidently something inside came
loose or broke once the battery was subjected to road vibration - which
indicates it was faulty to start with. Road vibration finished it off.
Back at Walmart, a quick swap took care of the problem, and the
replacement lasted well over three years. So you never know,.
