It's simple, the manufacturer/wholesaler can't be undercutting their retailers or the retailers will quit carrying their product. They sell at MSRP and leave the discounting to their retailers. If a manufacturer/wholesaler is selling at a discount, it is almost always because they lack (or have chosen not to market via) a good retailing network.
