Last week, the Syncro Bros met in Moab and headed to Beef Basin-- a remote area S of the Needles District of Canyonlands Nat'l Park. Big parks, buttes, mesas, Anasazi ruins everywhere, nobody else.

I tried last November with Leon Korkin to get there, but there was snow covering mud on the roads in the high country of the Abajos. This year we had dry roads, except for some shady places up high which were frozen. Five days of perfect weather: ~60 degree daytime highs, 35-40 degree night lows, cloudless, sunny; crystal clear air. Plenty of pinyon pine for campfires. We hit THE week!

From pavement to pavement, we probably drove 150 miles. Burgers at Milt's in Moab and the Patio Drive-in in Blanding to bookend the trip. What more could anyone ask???

or the top link at http://jones.colorado.edu This is a combination of photos by Bob and me. If my van is in the pix, Bob took it; if it's his van, I took it. ;-)

This is perfect Syncro country. 2wd could do lots of it, but there are places of sand, and also SAND, that would grab a 2wd. With a Syncro, you just keep going.... Oh, no, Bob--we forgot to air down!

Richard
