Jeff,

Vanagons have a 5x112mm bolt pattern. The wheels you are looking at looked to be 5x100mm. Even if it were the correct bolt pattern, the offset of ET38 would be cutting it close on the inside edge for 2wd's. The centerbores on Jetta and Golf wheels are typically 57.1mm. You need at least 66mm.
