Subject: Screen Replacement Poptop

The issue is Cost. We sell the screen which is very simple for 45 shipped. The more we add to it the more the cost on a pop top that is approaching 25 years plus. The rest of the canvas will start to fail. If we charge to much for a repair pc it gets to be cheaper to toss the coin at the full canvas. Labor is expensive. We have to make in volume of sorts to make them cost effective. The Velcro itself will not bond to the canvas ( different Substrates, We would have to sew cotton tape to each pc to make it bondable to the canvas ( cotton ). Same with the zipper that is nylon that will not bond to the canvas, So we then would have to sew a cotton tape to the Zipper tape to make it bondable to the canvas. I can make anything, But, It must work and it must be done right to sell to the general public or the reputation will be slammed. If cost or quality is an issue then it can not be made by me. Also many of the aftermarket canvas that I have seen are really not well made. I am getting close to needing a new canvas for my own 85 westy and It is cheaper for me to buy one to build one. I am having an issue with the quality of the goods I see vs the OEM canvas. I may make my own BUT, will probably not make them for the masses. I make so many VW related items it is getting harder to keep up is all.

Oh, BTW we are putting together a install Video for the screen kit since some have had issues with fully understanding the install. I will let you all know when it is done.

Thanks Jonce All in good fun!
