You don't always have to do something in order to get the joke:
imagine the whole exposition that George Clooney does in "Up in the
Air," but instead of flying he's talking about driving a Vanagon
Westfalia from town to town. The whole first scene with Vera Farmiga
is at the table in his Westy (parked next to hers).

If you haven't seen "Up in the Air," get thee to thy Netflix account
now, order it, and then get ready to translate the film into Down on
the Ground.
