Baywindow bus seats from 1976-79 will fit. I am told that eurovan seats will also fit; though the bases are taller and that may make it harder to get into the van.

I recently found a pair of clapped-out baywindow seats apart and threw away everything except the sliding tray on the bottom. I then took a pair of Mk2 (1990) Golf seats and removed the rear mounting bars and the front sliding rail... Now the baywindow tray fits neatly onto the bottom of the seats. These then fit directly into a late-bay or vanagon.

The end product is a huge improvement over the worn-out bay seats and has one advantage over the vanagon captain's chairs... they can recline almost fully flat. This is a big plus for my wife and I, as it allows the co-pilot to get a nap on long trips. Then we can swap spots later on and cover a lot more miles when the need arises.

Happy Trails,
