LOL. The growing pains. But this time growing in knowledge. It would have
saved a lot if you first asked here.
One temp sensor is for the computer, the other is for the dash. The one on
the thermostat is the one for the computer.
But there could be other reasons why it won't start well. Maybe the fuel
supply is interrupted in some way.
It's good to test the fuel pressure, in the middle, right in front of you as
you look in, at that short little pipe that has a little bolt in it on the
three way fuel unit. Home Depot sells a 100 psi pressure gauge for about
$12, the next isle you find the fittings for it, the next isle you get two
clamps, at the FLAPS you get a four inch long fuel line, assemble them, and
after you unbolted that little one from the three way unit, install it
there. Then every time you turn the key on you get three seconds fuel pump
action to build up fuel pressure without starting. And if it starts, it
will show you about 35 psi if it's working fine. If much less, you need to
fix that.
Good to check the O2 sensor too. If you have the Bentley manual, it
explains it and it's very simple.
It is not uncommon to change almost everything and still not win the battle.
I have a friend who is a top class mechanic on Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Audi,
yet he is completely stuck when his Vanagon is sick. And he changed all the
most expensive parts, etc, and only then a month later he asked me about
what I think it maybe. It was the temp 2 sensor. The one that sends the
signal to the computer. Now he has two of everything.
For the car to work, it needs; air, gas, fire. Check the fire too.
