BTW, the Atwood 8012 is 75% efficient (from the mfg's label) and output is only 9000 btu. The Propex HS2800 is a tad more efficient at 93%, and output is 9600 btu (input 3.0kw, output 2.8). :-) Yes, you pay more for small size, efficiency, and sophisticated safety features. The newest models are also a bit more quiet than those produced prior to February 2010. The new Atwood 8012 is a pretty good alternative at around $400. It is 1 inch shorter than the suburban NTs and narrower. And the 8012 draws only 1.8 amps. It fits in the little cabinet by the fridge. It is a 12K btu model so it puts out the just the right amount of heat. >The ideal for me would be a half price propex 2800 located somewhere that would reduce noise to a minimum. |
