I used to own an Element and when I did I saw this kit, way too expensive in IMHO, around 5K as I recall. But the Element itself was/is a fantastic car. Unbelievable room inside, very comfortable (I'm 6'4"), and of course, as reliable as the day is long. But, the most controversial car I've ever owned, including buses. Folks would sometimes get almost violent in their opinion on the styling. I got tired of hearing "why would you buy a plastic car" ( Hey, DA, most cars today are plastic panels over a steel structure) But the most pathetic comment of all? The Element was marketed towards gay men! I sold mine because I just didn't need it anymore, but in 5 years of ownership it never gave me any trouble. Two complaints: it was a miserable car to change the oil on, and once the novelty of the doors wears off, they become a PITA.

This "topic" or suggestion comes up periodically. Although there are a number of Element owners here the discussion seems to often shift to the fact that you can only add 675 lbs. to the vehicle before it is grossed-out. Not remotely in a class with the Vanagon of any ilk. bob On Nov 25, 2010, at 8:11 AM, Don Hanson wrote: > > > Looking at this kit in the link, it seems well thought out and executed. > Might make that Honda Element a little more utilitarian for extended > adventure camping. > > http://www.ursaminorvehicles.com/ > > Don Hanson
