Michael,

I've had no problems filling/bleeding my 2.1L on a flat surface. Just turn your heaters on, unscrew the thermostat bleeder one turn. fill, bleed and go. Check your tank for the next couple of runs and open your bleed screw too. The ring around the engine compartment does the rest. Note: the thermostat bleeder doesn't unscrew all the way, just open it a bit and don't forget to close it when you're done.
