Subject: A dirty Vanagon
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

I'm in western Washington state, it's 38 degrees out (f) most of the snow is gone and I just washed the mud off my '84 Vanagon.

I'd had a light sheen of dirt on it picked up from a road where dump trucks had been going from a dirt road to the tar road & yesterday we did 5 miles of muddy roads (one way) to get a U-cut Christmas tree. It needed a bath.

A really good rinse (till the wheel wells ran clear as did the propane tank area) then it was soap time. I used some kind of 'car wash' product and a car washing brush on a stick, it would have been better if I I'd have used my hands but they are already cold enough.

I need to take the awning off so I can clean the poptop behind it. I need to clean the rust off the hardware on the top and use something to make the poptop white again. Doing the poptop has been covered on the list before and I'm thinking some type of polishing wheel on my Dremil will take care of the hardware.

I do have several places (like the back hatch) that have dirt (grease) so imbedded in the paint that they just won't come out. Anyone have suggestions on that imbedded dirt/grease?
