I've been driving a VW bus of some type for a lot of years and have never had someone bump let alone hit me from behind. A lot of those years includes the '59 with the mighty 36hp and the '71 so slow on my part has been an issue.

I have on the other hand I have found poles, rocks & trees with the back on my VW bus (over the years) that I did not see until they 'introduced' themselves to me <g>.
