but how can one have a 'factory SVX Synco' ?

VW is not going to put in any japanese engine .

Closest I've ever heard of is Porsche putting a 911 engine into a Vanagon ..syncro one I believe, . for a Paris-Dakar type support vehicle.

does seem slightly fishy that the price on this SA red syncro is low, and year is not mentioned.. and you would expect an engine picture .
