Good point. It may be that I used open cell, I just don't remember. Now you got me thinking. I must have pics of those flaps somewhere! The original material in some cases, might be non existant for the owner to "refer" to. The open cell may well have been what was there OEM. Mine were nearly dust when I pulled all apart, but what you speak of makes sense in terms of what I recall removing.
