Scott was one of the listers that encouraged me to strip my '85 (early model AFAIK). Never done that kind of thing before. I too find that the doors (and hatch) are in the way.

One unknown to me was the springs. Didn't know how much tension they would be under (removing suspension parts) Done properly, there's not a lot of risk in removing them.

Not that hard once you get started. Just make sure the tow truck has access and can haul it w/o wheels.

I kept the rear trailing arms. They were worth saving as they are far less rusty than mine. Bonus: bearings likely ok. Backing plates nice too.

You might get lucky with the long metal pipes. Mine had minor pitting. Coated them w/POR. They should last at least several years more.
