Funny you should mention that. I think I have that problem, a growl at or just above idle which I first thought was ps pump. A flush and new fluid did not cure it. Listening under the van while steering wheel being turned ruled out the rack. Noise was at the rear, but louder under the van and also inside van, than it was looking down at in engine compartment. Hand pressure on the steel lines under the van just before they turn up to the engine compartment does affect the noise.

So I am thinking the lines are vibrating.
