Subject: Heater Fan And Front Brake Squeal
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8

Long day, and somewhat frustrating. My wife has been begging me to do whatever it takes to make my '85 Weekender more "quiet". The heater fan squealed , as did the front brakes. The front brake squeal was an attention getting, migraine inducing squeal. I was missing the noise dampening plates on the front pads, but a few weeks ago I tried the "disk brake quiet" goo-It did nothing. Anyway, first on the list was Karl Mulendore's access hole drilled to oil the fan.I drilled the hole, and with every type of LED light I couldn't see anything. The kicker was the damn heater fan stopped squealing today! I'm sure it will come back, though. So on to the brakes. I was able to get through my local VW dealer what they claim to be the last 2 (need 4) noise dampening plates VW had in stock. One for each side. They seem to have worked. I put them on today and then took the van on a long test drive and no brake OR fan squeal. Only a very slight squeal when braking and backing up. I just hope it lasts! Jeff
